About Me

PaigeMy name is Paige Reiring. I’m a blogger, a reader, a writer, and a host of other things that you probably don’t care about. I hail from the “Nasty ‘Nati,” as my Columbus friends so eloquently describe it, and am a sophomore at the Ohio State University. I’m studying English while minoring in Computer and Information Science.

I love dark fantasy and quirky horror, as well as anything that destroys stereotypes – both people and media alike. My goal in my writing is to surprise the reader, exceed their expectations, and break down the tropes and archetypes that they’ve come to expect from genre writing. I aim to create compelling characters and engaging plots that rip emotion from the reader’s heart. I want to make people question their own expectations for stories. My goal is not just to entertain; it is to make you think.

  2. Hi Paige! I recently stumbled upon your blog and I love it! So many great and useful writing tips that have helped me! I was wondering if you would be interested in either taking part in or telling your readers about a creative writing challenge I’m doing? Thanks so much, Tallulah :)

    Hi Paige,

I very much like your site and find myself fascinated by your manifesto – ‘break down the tropes and archetypes . . . come to expect from genre writing’.

‘My goal is not just to entertain; it is to make you think.’ Good.

I admire someone who sets themselves high standards like that and are not afraid to go public with them.

I’ve just downloaded your Spawn on Kindle and am very much looking forward to reading and reviewing the story. (The cover is just stunning – your own work?)

    • I’m very dedicated to subverting tropes and expectations. I think I do a decent job in Spawn, as well my current WIPs, but I’ll let you be the judge of my short story.

Thank you! I hope you enjoy the story. I actually didn’t make the cover, though I agree, it’s amazing. I purchased it from James at GoOnWrite.com, and he has a lot of really spectacular covers available.

I’d love to hear what you think when you’re finished.

      Thanks,
      Paige

Hello! I nominated you for the Liebster award (this was before I realized you’d already been nominated. Whoops. Sorry for the repeat.) If you haven’t already participated, you can take a look here: http://katewrites2.wordpress.com/2014/06/08/liebster-award/

    Hi Paige.
Your goal is inspiring. Where you like people who challenge stereotypes I like people who set the standards for themselves high.
Your blog looks great by the way.

  7. Hi Paige! I was googling those verses by Robert Montgomery and hit upo your blog! It’s amazing how some connections are made here on the Internet…I just love your manifesto on surprising the reader and everyone who gets to know your work, and it’s funny, cause that’s something I like to do with my humble Instagram image gallery…Instead of the usual dull pics of me eating or shaving my face, I’ve devoted it to sharing unusual images that I stumble upon while surfing the Net or Facebook (I promise to look for you there, too! ) Looking fwd to hearing from you again, greetings from Spain!

I can’t imagine doing this Autism thingy without the partner that I have. He is SOME Dad. He has never missed an important medical appointment or mei&rngt#8230;evee. I want each and every Mom fighting this battle on their own to find such a partner. Praying for it.

Give me your thoughts.
